William Andrew Beer (1862-1954) was a racing Pigeon enthusiast himself, judging at competitive Pigeon shows.

Interestingly the Pigeons Beer was commissioned to paint would often arrive by train to his studio in Eastville, Bristol to have their portraits done after such achievements.

This study of a ‘Smokey Cheq Hen. N.U.R.P.B.S.F.4359’ was the Winner of the Granville race, season 1921.
